Two hours drive from London down towards Chichester to West Whittering Beach. A sandy beach, grassy picnic areas and wind- and kitesurfing club, well organised with pre-booked parking slots, this is a great option for a day trip. Top marks for no overcrowding and clean beach.

WEST WHITTERING BEACH

We took a hamper and some drinks so were self sufficient for the day and because you have to book ahead to park, it meant the beach wasn’t too busy. Recommend buying a wind breaker prior to your visit as it can get quite cold if the breeze picks up.

If I had more time… not sure what the area is like for an overnight stay, but if we would perhaps we would have tried some watersports

If we had less time…a day trip is a great amount of time.
