Italian Lakes Lake Como holidays Italy is a picturesque step back in time. Lake Como is one of those special places where life slows down enabling you to take in nature and eat plenty of pasta! We were in town for a wedding, but we still had enough time to explore Varenna and Bellagio. If you don’t stay at Villa Cipressi try and visit one of the lakeside villas to see the lake views from the manicured gardens. A little warning, as we visited in July which is the best time weather wise, but we still experienced heavy rains. Of course the food is one of the highlights of Lake Como!

Villa CIPRESSI HOTEL
AND VARENNA

Varenna is a pretty traditional village, perfect for lazy lake side strolls and rich and comforting Italian food. After you’ve filled up on pasta, take a hike in the hills or the public boat over to nearby and livelier Bellagio.

Bar il Molo and Nilus bar on the lake side are great for lunch and dinner. Villa Cipressi, set in its beautiful botanical gardens is warm and welcoming and is a little nod to the glamour of Lake Como.

Hire a boat or take the regular public boat around Lake Como and look out for the famous villas and scenes from films such as Oceans 12, Casino Royale and Star Wars Episode II.

BELLAGIO and the LIDO

Lido de Bellagio is a the perfect antidote to a heavy night out. However, it’s likely you’ll join their party has the day goes on.  It’s worth walking from the boat to the lido to see some of Bellagio’s pretty cobbled streets and manicured gardens.
