SEN WELLNESS SANCTUARY SRI LANKA
Sen Wellness Sanctuary Sri Lanka is a much needed break from normality. On the south coast of Sri Lanka, this is the sister resort to Sen Wellness in London and boasts its very own turtle nesting beach. Each day, we’d start the day with an hours yoga practice as the sun rose, followed by a beautifully balanced breakfast accompanied by personalised Ayurvedic medicine. Then the real treat of the day – the blackboard! Each day everyone has 2-3 treatments which are prescriped depending on your own needs and revealed on a blackborad after breakfast. I came back a new person and if I could, I would visit here every year. We booked through Healing Holidays who arranged everything from flights to transfers. On speaking wiht other guests who had arranged all elements themselves, there was very little difference in price and so I would highly recommend Healing Holidays for this trip.

The resort can host around 16 people and so you really switch off and hit restore. This is all about a simpler way of life consisting of balanced meals, yoga, massage, meditation and beach walks (note the water is pretty wild and so swimming isn’t allowed).
Treatments ranged from varying massages to steam and herbal baths through to the incredibly relaxing shirodhara oil treatment. These are spaced through the day leaving you to explore the area or simply kick back and read a book in one of many relaxation areas interjected only by a lovely light lunch. In the evening we come back together as a group to do a gentle yoga flow followed by dinner. Often we’d then take a walk on the beach to see turtles nesting on the beach – pure bliss!
The resort is very remote (4 hours from the airport) and a return transfer to the resort is about £150. It’s all about flow and relaxation in the resort and so you’ll notice the circular building design which nestles gently into the environment.
The open air first floor yoga platform was probably one of my favourite spots.
